HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 cc256-7W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that there are sufficient home helps in the city of Carlisle to meet the needs of the people of Carlisle; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. John Dunwoody

There is a general need for more home helps, but the ratio of home helps to population in Carlisle is well above the national average. I am not aware of any special local difficulty, though I understand there has been heavy pressure on the service in connection with the recent influenza outbreak.
