HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 c279W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will now make a statement regarding the future use of Hadrian Camp, Carlisle; and what representations have been made to him regarding this camp.

Mr. Hattersley

A provisional bid for Hadrian's Camp from another Government Department has not yet been settled. Discussions have been held with the local authorities. Negotiations for the sale of a small area of land and some houses to the Cumbria Police Authority are in hand.

A number of representations have been made in favour of preserving the sports facilities for the public and making the surplus quarters available to the local authorities.
