asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many pre-registration posts for doctors there are which provide no teaching facilities;

(2) how many pre-registration posts for doctors are available in the hospital service; and how many posts are filled.

All pre-registration posts are designated by university authorities as providing appropriate training and experience for provisionally registered doctors. There are currently about 2,300 such posts in England and Wales, almost all of which are filled. According to provisional figures, 1,870 posts were filled by pre-registration doctors at 30th September, 1969, the

courage smoking comprised £52,834 on a poster campaign (including £15,088 on research) and about £2,000 on other items. There was no expenditure on television advertising, but short films sponsored by my Department were shown by the BBC.
