HC Deb 26 January 1970 vol 794 cc277-8W
Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if any chemicals were marketed in each of the last three years for use in agriculture and food storage without first being considered by the Advisory Committee on pesticides and other toxic chemicals; how many were submitted for consideration in each of those years; and how many failed to secure acceptance.

Mr. Hoy

The latest available information relates to the years 1966–1968 inclusive during which, as far as I am aware, no chemicals were marketed for use in agriculture and food storage without first having been considered under the Pesticides Safety Precautions Scheme.

The information is given in the table below:

1966 1967 1968
Notifications submitted for consideration (number of new chemicals shown in brackets). 242 (23) 354 (46) 445 (41)
Clearances refused 12 6 12
Notifications withdrawn 4 3 3

The number of full commercial clearances given in each of the years was 84, 152 and 225 respectively.

coast in each of the last five years are known to have been previously tagged and in what countries.
