HC Deb 23 January 1970 vol 794 c197W
Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action is being taken to identify the cause of the disease which has been found in salmon in the River Tamar.

Mr. Hoy

Specimens of affected fish have been examined on the spot and in the laboratory by Ministry scientists. Fish have also been sent to Exeter and Salford Universities, the Public Health Laboratory, Truro, and Plymouth Marine Biological Laboratories. So far it has not been possible to account for the condition, but there has been no report of its having proved fatal.
