HC Deb 23 January 1970 vol 794 cc199-200W
Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the estimate of the cost to complete the modernisation of the Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse, Plymouth; and when this will be undertaken.

Dr. David Owen

The estimated order of cost of modernisation of the Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse, Plymouth, is £1 million-£1.5 million. Further consideration is being given to the best way of providing modern hospital facilities for Service personnel in the South-West of England before a decision is reached as to whether this work will be undertaken. This will include studying the concept of a hospital campus, allowing sharing of expensive diagnostic and other facilities with N.H.S. hospitals.
