HC Deb 23 January 1970 vol 794 cc213-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will give for the longest convenient stated period of time the number of occasions when his Department has assisted private Members of Parliament when on unofficial overseas visits; and, in each instance, what assistance was given.

Mr. Luard

The statistics for which my hon. Friend has asked are not readily available, but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Her Majesty's Missions abroad are anxious to give as much assistance as they can to hon. Members making visits overseas, whether official or unofficial. If my hon. Friend has a particular visit in mind, I should be glad if he would write to me about it.
