asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many primary and secondary school children, respectively, are now receiving part-time education; in which areas a shortage of teachers occurs; and what was the comparative position a year ago.

Mr. Ross

5,037 primary and 3,447 secondary. In January, 1969, the corresponding figures were 4,786 and 2,405. The areas affected are Glasgow, Renfrew-shire, Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. With the exception of Ayrshire the same areas were affected in January, 1969.
