Mr. Emery

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what was the total of overseas aid in direct grant and loan made by the British Government to all overseas nations in 1964, 1966 and 1968; and what proportion of this money it is estimated was spent on British exports.

Direct bilateral aid plus investment by the Commonwealth Development Corporation, for the years in question was as follows:

aid that the recipient nations give adequate guarantees with regard to taxation of British companies and the security of British assets.

All relevant factors including our trading relations are taken into account in dealing with aid allocations to particular countries.
