Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what assistance Messrs. Eric Rawstron and Byran Coates, authors of a book on the educational geography of Great Britain, sought from his Department in preparing this work; and what assistance they received; and if he has given their findings any official backing.

Apart from a general discussion between officials of my Department, and Mr. Rawstron in 1966, prior to the commencement of this study, no other assistance has been sought or given. The findings have not received any official backing.
