HC Deb 22 January 1970 vol 794 c190W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how much money the Exchequer made available to the County Borough of Huddersfield for the year 1969–70; and how this compared with 1963–64.

Mr. Denis Howell

The rate support grants to the County Borough of Huddersfield for 1969–70 are estimated at £4,963,467 compared with £2,599,623 in respect of the corresponding grants in 1963–64. The amounts of capital grants, specific revenue grants and housing subsidies for 1969–70 are not yet known. For 1968–69 these grants and subsidies totalled £676,488 compared with £429,153 for 1963–64. The amounts of police grant included in these totals, £146,000 for 1968–69 and £177,517 for 1963–64, are not comparable because from 1st October, 1968 the grant became payable to the West Yorkshire Police Authority.

Mr. Lomas

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what proposals the Huddersfield County Borough has made during the past 12 months for an increase in the house-building programme.

Mr. Freeson

Huddersfield County Borough Council propose to approve tenders for 400 dwellings in 1970 compared with 135 in 1969.
