HC Deb 22 January 1970 vol 794 c168W
36. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity why, in view of the many examples of company directors regularly increasing their salaries by more than 3½ per cent. contrary to the Government's prices and incomes policy, she has investigated only seven of such cases.

Mr. Harold Walker

Increases in individual salaries are not normally covered by the voluntary early warning arrangements. We make inquiries about individual increases which come to our attention where this seems appropriate.
