HC Deb 21 January 1970 vol 794 c142W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to transfer more of his Department's research work to Scotland.

Mr. John Morris

There are already six Ministry of Defence Research and Development Establishments in Scotland. They are as follows:

  • Naval Construction Research Establishment, Dunfermline.
  • Admiralty Reactor Test Establishment, Dounreay.
  • Central Dockyard Laboratory, Rosyth.
  • Admiralty Research Laboratory Extension, Glen Fruin.
  • Admiralty Research Laboratory Extension, Loch Goil.
  • Fighting Vehicles Research and Development Establishment range at Kirkcudbright.
With the present general reductions in Defence expenditure, there are no plans to transfer additional work to Scotland.
