asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what grant assistance is available for hill farmers wishing to install electricity or a telephone.

Mr. Ross

Under the Farm Improvement Scheme, grant of 30 per cent. is available to farmers generally, including hill farmers, towards provision of electricity for agricultural purposes.

Grants are not available for telephones.
