HC Deb 21 January 1970 vol 794 c153W
Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the functioning of magistrates' courts in Anguilla.

Mr. Foley

In March, 1969, a magistrate was appointed to accompany Her Majesty's Commissioner at the time of his installation. A session of the court was held shortly after his arrival. An Officer serving on a regional British technical assistance assignment was appointed in April to replace him as magistrate in Anguilla and this magistrate held sessions of the court in April, May and September. Another officer serving similarly on a regional basis has recently been appointed.
