HC Deb 20 January 1970 vol 794 c87W
39. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider a reduction in the duty on potato crisps and puffs, in view of the fact that the recent increase in price has switched purchases by children to sweets and confectionery, with a consequent adverse effect on dental health.

Mr. Taverne

Potato crisps and puffs now bear tax at the same rate as sweets and confectionery, and I have seen no evidence of any general switch in children's purchases.
