§ Mr. Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will state the average quarterly interest rates at which Welsh local authorities have borrowed during each of the past six years, beyond the quotas from the Public Works Loan Board.
§ Mr. George ThomasThere are many methods by which a local authority may borrow and the pattern of borrowing and consequently the terms of borrowing vary widely from authority to authority. It is not possible to compress these diverse costs of borrowing into a common average and an attempt to do so might possibly be misleading. Figures of the type specifically requested are not compiled.
