HC Deb 20 January 1970 vol 794 c114W
Mr. Nott

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the total value of subsidies paid to the Cornish fishing industry, and fishermen operating boats from Newlyn in each of the past four years.

Mr. Hoy

The cost of extracting detailed figures would be excessive, but it is estimated that subsidy payments in respect of boats normally landing at Cornish ports are running at about £60,000 a year, of which a little over two-thirds is in respect of boats normally landing at Newlyn.

Mr. Nott

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the total value of grants and loans made through the White Fish Authority for boats and equipment to the Cornish fishing industry and to fishermen operating from Newlyn/Penzance during the past four years.

Mr. Hoy

This is a matter for the White Fish Authority which has agreed to forward this information to the hon. Member.
