asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) how many directors and other employees earning over £2,000 per annum were listed by employers on returns to the Inland Revenue as having no expenses or benefits in the year ended 5th April, 1968;

(2) what was the total of the expenses and benefits returned on forms P.11D for the year ended 5th April, 1968;

(3) what was the aggregate income assessed to tax and the yield in tax in consequence of returns on Forms P.11D for the year ended 5th April, 1968;

(4) how many forms P.11D were returned by employers to the Inland Revenue for the year ended 5th April, 1968.

About 440,000 P.11D forms including expenses and benefits, totalling about £185 million were received for 1967–68. The total amount charged to tax after deducting admissible expenses was about £25 million, yielding about £12 million in tax. The number of nil returns is not known.
