HC Deb 19 January 1970 vol 794 c32W
90. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services from what date, in calculating the amount of supplementary pension to be paid to people over pension age, the first 10s. of other incomes was disregarded; and what, on the same basis is the current equivalent value of such disregard.

Mr. Ennals

An "other income" disregard of 10s. 6d. was introduced in July, 1948, when the National Assistance Scheme started. The current equivalent value of such a disregard, on the basis of the Retail Prices Index at November 1969, would be 22s. 11d. The present level of the "other income" disregard under the Supplementary Benefit Scheme is 20s.
