HC Deb 19 January 1970 vol 794 c74W
Mr. Wright

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied with the powers given to regional crime squads, and with the progress in setting these up; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

I have no reason to suppose that the powers of the Scottish Crime Squad are in any way deficient. This squad, which covers the whole of Scotland, was set up in 1968 with headquarters in Airdrie and now has branches in Dundee, Edinburgh and the North-East. It replaces the three regional crime squads which previously operated under separate commands in Scotland.
