HC Deb 19 January 1970 vol 794 cc21-2W
78. Sir T. Beamish

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give an assurance that any plans to alter the ecological character of the Vallée de Mai, on Praslin Island in the Seychelles, will not be carried out until the plans have been made public, and there has been an opportunity for consideration to be given to any scientific or other opinion expressed on them, in view of the scientific importance of the area.

Mr. Luard

Yes. The Governor has informed me that Government policy is to preserve the whole beauty of the island as an essential asset and this involves preservation of the ecology.
