asked the Minister of Technology what studies he has made of the exhaust problems of cars in their effect on public health; and what consultations he has had with the motor industry in that connection.

Dr. Ernest Davies

Such studies are primarily the responsibility of the Medical Research Council. The Department contributes to the technical work. NO reliable evidence has been found that exhaust from cars is detrimental to health in the concentrations found in the United Kingdom. The motor industry is aware of this position.
