publish figures of the landings of fish by value handled through Newlyn Market in each of the past four years.

Mr. Hoy

My Department does not collect statistics of fish handled through particular markets, but the value of fish landed at Newlyn was as follows:—

1966 £279,000
1967 £290,000
1968 £310,000
1969 £338,000 (estimated)

Mr. Nott

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish a memorandum setting out the results of the recent experiments which have been made by the tagging of crawfish in Cornwall; and what further evidence is available on the effect of diving for crawfish on breeding stocks.

Mr. Hoy

A progress report on the crawfish investigations in Cornwall will be published shortly. On present evidence there is no reason to think that the breeding stocks are adversely affected by any type of fishing off the Cornish coast.
