HC Deb 27 February 1970 vol 796 cc429-30W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Technology what amount of electricity was exported from Wales to England in Council Tenants each of the years from 1964 to 1969.

Mr. Alan Williams

I said in a reply to the hon. Member on 19th December, the C.E.G.B. operate a fully integrated system of electricity generation and transmission and power flows between England and Wales are not separately metered. As an approximation, however, the following estimates have been provided by the C.E.G.B.:

Estimated Net Exports of Electricity from Wales (106kWh)(*)
1964–65 2,205
1965–66 3,206
1966–67 1,696
1967–68 2,354
1968–69 2,264
* Allowance has been made for electricity used in Welsh power stations and transmission losses.—[Vol. 793, c. 485.]
