HC Deb 26 February 1970 vol 796 c411W
Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now able to make a statement about the White Fish Authority's minimum price scheme for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Mr. Ross

Yes. My right hon. Friends and I have decided, after full consideration of the objections received and after consultation with the Authority, that the Scheme should be confirmed with modifications. The principal modifications we are making are that the Authority will not have power to suspend, revoke or refuse to renew licences, that persons holding licences under the Scheme shall not dispose of or acquire fish otherwise than by way of sale or purchase respectively, and that all increases in approved prices and the conditions to be included in licences shall be aproved by Ministers. A confirming order will be laid before the House shortly.
