§ 69. Mr. Peter M. Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish the terms of the replies he has sent to those who have made representations to him in connection with the visit by officers of the Metropolitan Police, Obscene Publications Division, to the home of Mr. Tony Smythe, General Secretary of the National Council of Civil Liberties, on Friday, 23rd January; and whether he has now made arrangements to meet a deputation from the National Council of Civil Liberties in accordance with the request made in its chairman's letter to the Home Office dated 27th January.
§ Mr. CallaghanThe Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has arranged for a deputation from the National Council for Civil Liberties to be received in response to a letter to him of 27th January, 1970, from their Chairman in the same terms as that sent to me. I see no need for me to receive a deputation nor is there any advantage in publishing the correspondence.
