HC Deb 26 February 1970 vol 796 cc395-6W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many United Kingdom citizens of Asian origin, hitherto resident in Kenya, are now being held in gaol in Great Britain or kept in detention at London Airport, or are waiting on the Continent having applied for permission to enter Great Britain; and what he proposes to do about them.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

15 United Kingdom passport holders from Kenya who were refused admission, after arriving without the necessary documents of entitlement, are at present detained in prison. 9 others who have been returned to the Continent after refusal of admission on the same ground have applied for entry certificates. All have attempted to jump the queue for special vouchers, and their cases are requiring careful consideration.
