HC Deb 26 February 1970 vol 796 cc406-7W
76. Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Minister of Technology how many new jobs have been made available in Hartlepool and the Northern Region, respectively, since 1964; and what is the number in prospect during the next two years.

Mr. Varley

The jobs expected to arise in factories, for which industrial development certificates were issued, which were completed between 1st January, 1964 and 30th June, 1969 in Hartlepool and the Northern Region total 4,790 and 66,200 respectively. Jobs in prospect expected to arise in the Northern Region during the next four years in authorised new industrial buildings and in buildings taken over by manufacturing industry total 43,300. These include an estimated 1,560 for Hartlepool. I regret that figures for the next two years only are not available.
