HC Deb 25 February 1970 vol 796 cc342-3W
Mr. Lane

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he proposes to take to prevent indiscriminate bull-dozing of hedgerows, with consequent threats to plantlife, wildlife and danger of erosion.

Mr. Mackie

I do not accept that hedgerows are removed indiscriminately. Our advisory officers always consider the agricultural advantages of hedgerows when advising on the layout of farms, and they also take into account the amenity aspects.
