HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c269W
33. Mr. Christopher Ward

asked the Minister of Transport what proposals he has to set up further passenger transport authorities in England and Wales.

Mr. Mulley

None. The question of establishing passenger transport authorities in Wales is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

44. Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will agree to write-off the inherited debts of the Merseyside and South East Lancashire North East Cheshire Passenger Authorities.

Mr. Fred Mulley

No. It is normal practice in transfers within the public sector that liabilities as well as assets are transferred, and this principle was followed in the legislation regulating the establishment of the P.T.As.
