HC Deb 24 February 1970 vol 796 c297W
85. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he has given official publicity to the method of extraction of blood from the thumb in cases of alleged drunken driving; and whether motorists required to provide samples of blood for analysis will continue to be required by doctors to provide a blood sample from the arm.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

Whether venous or capillary blood should be taken, and where from, are matters to be settled between the motorist and the doctor. I have not heard that any great difficulty arises in practice, and my right hon. Friend has not arranged publicity on the subject.
