HC Deb 23 February 1970 vol 796 c262W
Mr. Marks

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether, in view of the increase in the use of radio by police and ambulance services, taxi companies and amateur radio transmitters, he will take steps to lay down standards for adequate screening of all television receivers sold or rented in this country.

Mr. Stonehouse

No. The number of occasions when interference is received from the systems referred to is extremely small in relation to the millions of T.V. sets in use. The problem, when it arises, is much better dealt with according to the circumstances of each case, and the remedy is often aerial, rather than set, modification. My hon. Friend's suggestion, besides involving unnecessary expense, would offer therefore no universal solution.
