§ Mr. Hannanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he accepts the main conclusions of the Primary School Survey in respect of auxiliaries and if he will make regulations prescribing the size of the establishment and conditions of employment.
§ Mr. RossThe Report "Primary School Survey—a study of the teacher's day" is the result of a detailed analysis of the work of the primary school teacher. 251W Its object was to establish the effective scope for relieving teachers of non-professional duties by the employment of auxiliary staff. I have already drawn the attention of education authorities to the report, and I propose to seek the collaboration of a few authorities in devising experiments for using auxiliaries in ways suggested by the findings of the Report. I doubt if this is a matter on which I should offer precise guidance to education authorities but in any event I would like to wait until the results of these experiments have been assessed.
