asked the Minister of Technology what steps are being taken to bring new industries to East Midlothian, as a consequence of the contraction of the mining industry.

Mr. Varley

The Ministry's Office in Glasgow will continue to bring the facilities in the area and the full range of development area incentives available there to the notice of firms contemplating suitable projects.
