HC Deb 20 February 1970 vol 796 c206W
Mr. Bishop

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take further steps to ensure that insurance companies meet their obligations under the Insurance Companies Acts and particularly with regard to the protection of policyholders and the public under the Insurance Companies Act, 1958.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

The Board of Trade's supervisory powers over insurers were strengthened by the Companies Act, 1967 and we shall continue to make use of them when appropriate. If my hon. Friend has any specific suggestions for improving these powers, I will consider them.
