HC Deb 19 February 1970 vol 796 cc165-6W
52. Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what further research has been undertaken into the deaths last October of sea birds in the Clyde and Northern Irish Sea; and what are the conclusions of this research.

Mr. Fowler

Bacteriological and virological tests have been made on dead birds and comparisons made with healthy birds. Information is being studied about weather conditions, availability of food and traces of pollutants in sea water. The Natural Environment Research Council expects to publish a report on this research in May.
