8 and 9. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Minister of Overseas Development (1) why Her Majesty's Government have not yet carried out the Financial Assistance Agreement with Malta since April; and whether they will now enter negotiations over the second quinquennium of the Agreement;
(2) whether, with a view to improving relations with Malta, the Government will increase their present offer of 50 per cent. grant and 50 per cent. loan for assistance to Malta.
§ 29. Mr. Fisherasked the Minister of Overseas Development whether she is now in a position to announce the conclusion of the aid negotiations with Malta.
§ Mr. WhitakerThere is no question of the British Government not adhering to the 1964 Financial Agreement with Malta; but I regret I cannot give details of the negotiations since they are not yet concluded.
§ Mr. Wallasked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will make a further statement on the suspension of aid to Malta.
§ Mr. WhitakerI would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave earlier today to a similar Question.
