HC Deb 19 February 1970 vol 796 c192W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will cause an investigation to be made to ascertain to what extent the immigration of labour from the countries of the Six into Great Britain on Great Britain entering the Common Market will affect the social security system generally and the cost of benefits for health, unemployment and pensions in particular.

Mr. Ennals

We have no reason to think that this immigration will have any adverse effect.
