§ 38. Mr. Clark Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will obtain a report from the chief constable as to the recruiting figures for the Edinburgh police force over the past year; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BuchanDuring 1969, 77 officers were recruited by Edinburgh police force and 89 left the force by retirement, resignation or for other reasons. Ten additional civilians were appointed during the year to replace police officers engaged in clerical, technical or traffic control duties and the total manpower available to the force, therefore, was two fewer than at the end of 1968.
§ 43. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent Scottish police forces will use the new computer to be installed by Scotland Yard for the keeping of criminal records.
§ Mr. BuchanThis is a Great Britain computer and Scottish forces will have full access to it.
