HC Deb 18 February 1970 vol 796 cc138-9W
84. Mr. James Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many industrial training centres were opened in Scotland in the years 1966, 1967, 1968 and up to the most convenient date.

Mr. Dell

Two Government training centres were opened during this period, one at Edinburgh in 1967 and the other at Bellshill (Lanarkshire) in 1968. Another centre is to be opened at Dundee early in 1971. This will bring the number of such centres in Scotland to 10. In addition, the following training centres separate from firms' premises have been set up in Scotland by or under the sponsorship of the Industrial Training Boards:

1966 5
1967 4
1968 7
1969 3

These figures do not include new group training schemes using technical college facilities.
