HC Deb 18 February 1970 vol 796 c133W
73. Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will publish his calculations of the approximate annual financial benefits which have flowed to Commonwealth countries as a result of the Commonwealth Sugar Agreement during the postwar period.

Mr. Hoy

Such calculations cannot be made because it is impossible to say how much sugar Commonwealth countries would have exported in the absence of the Commonwealth Sugar Agreement or at what prices.

74. Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the future of the Commonwealth Sugar Agreement, with particular reference to its impact upon developing countries.

Mr. Hoy

The Commonwealth Sugar Agreement will be reviewed by the parties to it next year, under the provision made in the Agreement for triennial review.
