HC Deb 18 February 1970 vol 796 cc127-8W
67 and 68. Mr. Oakes

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) what is the estimated cost of the Government's contribution to the Trades Fair to be held in Buenos Aires in November, 1970; how many British exporters have to date indicated to him their intention to participate in the Fair; and what is the total area of exhibition space so far requested;

(2) if he will visit the British Trades Fair in Buenos Aires in November, 1970.

refused and granted; and what action was taken on the remainder.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

The figures of applications received by the Board of Trade under Section 165(b) of the Companies Act, 1948, are approximate because applicants often state imprecisely their complaints and the remedies which they seek. It would not be possible without a disproportionate expense of time and effort to distinguish separately cases which come to the attention of the Board otherwise than through complaints from creditors or shareholders. The following are approximate figures:

The Board of Trade's contribution to the British Industrial Exhibition in Buenos Aires in November, 1970, wll be about £160,000. So far 88 British companies, some of them comprising several firms, have booked over 69,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space. This is an important event, which my right hon. Friend intends to visit.
