HC Deb 18 February 1970 vol 796 c131W
71. Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what estimate he has made of the additional cost of administration within the Armed Forces which will result from the military salary scheme.

Mr. Healey

No precise estimate can yet be made. There will be additional administrative costs in some areas and savings in others. The balance either way will be insignificant in relation to the benefit which the new system will confer upon the Armed Forces.

72. Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is his estimate of the total additional taxation payable by the Armed Forces as a result of the introduction of the military salary scheme.

Mr. Healey

I cannot anticipate the statement on the pay of the Armed Forces that I hope to make to the House shortly.
