In accordance with present policy, discretionary additional payments equal to those now made under Section 12 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1968, were made to tenant farmers as an interim measure under Section 22 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1963 in respect of claims outstanding at the date of the statement, and in respect of similar claims received thereafter, before the new provisions came into effect.
