asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will introduce legislation to ensure that before a lifeboat is allocated to a station the volunteer crew is given the opportunity to examine and test it or a similar boar and that a boat of a type or design of which the crew does not approve will not be allocated.

No. Questions concerning the allocation of lifeboats to particular stations are best dealt with, as the Royal National Lifeboat Institution does now, by full and frank consultation between all concerned.
