HC Deb 12 February 1970 vol 795 c404W
Mr. Wellbeloved

asked the Secretary of State for Defence at what date and over what period was a survey carried out of patients admitted to the British Military Hospital in Singapore comparing the rate of alcoholic casualties between the Army and the Royal Navy; if members of the Royal Air Force were included in the survey; how many patients, respectively, for each of the Services were included in the survey; and how many in each Service were found to fall within the categories set out in the survey.

Mr. Hattersley

A study of patients admitted to the British Military Hospital, Singapore, undertaken by a Service medical officer on his own initiative, was conducted during 1966. This study was intended to identify all medical and surgical casualties which resulted from alcohol. It was published in the R.N. Journal of Medicine and a copy of the relevant issue has been placed in the Library.
