HC Deb 11 February 1970 vol 795 cc344-5W
57. Mr. Gordon Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland which local authorities in the areas where he is proposing to set up a passenger transport authority notified him, when he consulted them, that they were in favour of such a proposal.

Mr. Ross

My hon. Friend the Minister of State consulted the local authority associations. He did not hold consultations with individual local authorities other than Glasgow Corporation, which has a special position as the only municipal transport operator in the area. When he met Corporation representatives last August they expressed the view that the establishment of a passenger transport authority in the Greater Glasgow area would be premature.
