HC Deb 11 February 1970 vol 795 c346W
62. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give an undertaking, notwithstanding the recommendations contained in Command Paper No. 4277, that he will not intervene to prevent the proprietors of the Daily Telegraph newspaper from increasing the price of that newspaper by 2d. per copy or any greater or lesser amount which may seem to them, in the light of their knowledge of the industry, to be appropriate.

Mr. Mason

The increase proposed by the Telegraph was a maximum of 2d. up to the end of 1971. The N.B.P.I.s assessment, which the Government have accepted, related to the extent to which price increases would be justified in 1970.
