next 10 years, giving in respect of each the following information, namely, the actual or estimated date of the contracts for the buildings and computer hardware, respectively, the make and type and estimated cost of all computer hardware, and the estimated cost of the computer block and the office block, respectively.

Mr. Taverne

The order for the computer for the Centre at East Kilbride was placed in October, 1964 and orders were placed for the Centres at Bootle and Cardiff in October, 1968. Orders for the remaining Centres will be placed about 2 years before the appropriate computer accommodation becomes available, i.e. the approximate dates for placing the orders are expected to be:

Shipley end 1971
Manchester end 1972
Washington early 1973
Edinburgh Autumn 1973
Portsmouth Autumn 1974
Midlands Autumn 1974

It is not the usual practice to reveal the prices paid or expected to be paid to the suppliers of this equipment.

The building contracts are a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister for Public Building and Works.
